Milk Kefir Starter Culture (Freeze-dried)
Please note, this is not a perpetual culture.
This is a freeze dried culture that can be used to make vegan or dairy milk kefir.
If you are wanting a vegan perpetual culture- water kefir culture is a better option.
Water kefir culture and milk kefir culture tend to have more varieties of probiotic bacteria.
This start culture has a combination of the following strains: Lactococcus
lactis ssp lactis, Streptococcus thermophilus, Lactiplantibacillus plantarum, Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus, Lactobacillus acidophilus.
This starter culture can be used with a variety of plant based milks. For the best vegan milk kefir, it is better to make your own plant based milks as many store-bought options have very minimal of the key ingredient. For example many almond milks only have +-2% almonds and therefore in essence you are really trying to ferment water with additives.
Each sachet ferments 2L of plant based or dairy milk.
Instructions: Mix a sachet of culture with 2L of plant based milk, leave to ferment at 23-24 degrees Celsius for +-8 hours. Move to the fridge, consume within 7 days.
