Supporting Your Immune System

by Amber Fairweather |

As we move into the colder months of the year and we are more vulnerable to coughs and colds it is important for us to be supporting our immune system as much as possible.

Are you aware that more than 70% of your immune system resides in your gut? It only makes sense to support our gut health as much as possible; load up on good bacteria so there is no room for any nasties to take up residence!

Sauerkraut is one of our number one go to fermented foods and so was it Captain James Cooks magical go-to medication. Between the years 1500 and 1800, it was estimated that two million people died of scurvy while out at sea until it was discovered that sauerkraut played a phenomenal role in preventing and treating the disease.

By fermenting cabbage (sauerkraut), the nutritional value of raw cabbage is drastically increased, especially its vitamin C content which is crucial in preventing scurvy (along with many other diseases as we now know).

The probiotic bacteria found in sauerkraut not only increases the vitamin C content, but also B vitamins, minerals and of course their highly dense probiotic bacteria counts.

1kg of sauerkraut is equivalent in probiotic value to 16 jars of probiotic capsules!! You just simply cannot beat the value sauerkraut provides!

Join our Facebook group where we share knowledge on gut health and give support, tricks and tips for any fermentation. This is the perfect, supportive platform to ask all your question and get the support you need. You’re welcome to share your successes so we can all celebrate them as well.
