I have just put on my brew and the kombucha is mouldy. So it’s all been a waste of money ☹️

Hi Tanya. We are sorry to hear you have landed up with mould. I noted your other culture also had mould. This is an indication that something has gone wrong in your preparation for both cultures to have gone mouldy. It is always best to email us directly so we can offer support and help solve your problems.

It disappeared totally during the fermentation period of 5 days and have no idea why. I have been making kombucha for years and that’s really puzzled me. Mine got lost in transit locating to the South Island but it arrived and I put it together with yours as I do a bigger quantity in a 5litre jar and yours disappeared totally. My skoby was bigger but had lost half of the juice out of container so I made up some extra sweet tea and hoped for the best. Have got the process going again but just thought I’d share. Looks like mine absorbed yours in that period. This is not a complaint just FYI. Was a bit gobsmacked actually to just see one when I went to make up next batch.

Hi Merylyn. Thank you for your feedback. Yes if you place two SCOBYs in one container they can often join together to form a larger SCOBY, this is not unusual. Trust you are enjoying your kombucha. Kind regards, The Symbiota Team
