Kombucha Kit
I brought the Kombucha kit, had everything stored in the jar (including the scoby) as I have not had a chance to make my first brew.. It has not been opened or touched yet the scoby pouch has now leaked all through the jar, soaking scoby bag, instructions & cotton lodge cover. Not sure if I can still use the scoby/liquid now that or has leaked etc.
Hi Rebecca. Your SCOBY is packaged into a food grade pouch which is heat sealed. If your culture has been left for some time, it may have continued fermenting which will create pressure in the pouch. Liquid can then leak out due to this pressure. All the jars are in fact sterilized before dispatch. So if your pouch leaked starter tea within your jar there is no reason why this still cannot be used. The instructions are not placed in the jar, so I cannot see how these came to being soaked. If you are unsure of whether or not you can still use your product it is best to contact us at info@symbiota.co.nz so we can support you

The kombucha is delicious and easy to make. It's a very small jar so you might want to upgrade if you're happy with the kit
