Symbiota
Coconut Yogurt Kit- culture makes 50L yoghurt!
Make your own plant-based vegan yogurt or dairy yogurt.
Symbiota is extremely proud of offering a vegan yogurt culture that has NO maltodextrins, fillers or lactose! This starter culture can be used to make vegan or dairy yohurts. Vegan yogurts tend to be thinner compared to dairy yogurts due to the different makeup of the milks. An organic natural thickener has been included in this yogurt kit for those who would prefer a thicker yoghurt.
How do I make my own homemade yogurt?
Simply warm a good quality coconut cream, nut milk or dairy milk to 85 degrees Celsius, add thickener, reduce temperature to 42 degrees Celsius, add your yogurt culture and maintain your coconut cream between 40-43 degrees Celsius for at least 8 hours. The longer you leave your yogurt to ferment the sourer it will be. Many people use dehydrators, warm water baths, preheated ovens, heating mats, thermos, and more to maintain the temperature of their yogurt at a constant temperature during the fermentation process.
NB: Please note it is very important to keep your culture dry. Therefore you MUST allow your sachet of culture to come up to room temperature before opening otherwise the air will condense on the culture and ruin it with moisture.

Coconut Yogurt Kit- culture makes 50L yoghurt!
So far we have made one batch of coconut yoghurt, I used Kara coconut cream and oh my goodness it is good!!! Sooo decadent!! I have a Thermomix, so I used it to heat the coconut cream, mix everything and then fermented them in the thermie yoghurt jars overnight! Super easy. Definitely adding these to our Xmas breakfast menu!!
I was afraid of how difficult it would be to make homemade coconut yogurt but the symbiota team reassured me it may be easier than I thought and they were right. They recommended the boxes Kara coconut cream and it produces a thick and indulgent coconut yogurt. Best Christmas gift ever! Thanks
This is fantastic to hear Sumari! Home made coconut yogurt is the best!
Bought a coconut yoghurt kit among other goodies, packaging team made a small error and mis-packed something. A quick email to customer services and the Team -lickity-split fixed the mistake in no time! Great communication, fast and thoughtful delivery and wonderful products.
Happy to shop with you again 😊

The Symbio yogurt I made to your recipe tasted very good compared to other homemade recipes I have used. It's delicious and I can't make it fast enough to enjoy as I love it.
I made my first batch of coconut yogurt. I followed the instructions very closely. I used an electric yogurt maker to ferment the yoghurt. The yogurt has a grainy texture. Which isn't very nice to eat. I used organic coconut milk and flavoured it with vanilla paste. I have used both ingredients in other batches of yoghurt with success. I would like to know what has gone wrong.
Hi Joanne. I was please to hear (via email) you resolved this problem and now having great success and loving your coconut yogurt:)
Yes you are right, the thickener needs to be added while the coconut cream/milk is still cool, as per instructions.
